Experience and lessons from six years of work in three pilot areas: the Neretva Delta, Skadar/Shkodra Lake and West Stara Planina
The project Transboundary Cooperation through the Management of Shared Natural Resources was a cross-border project addressing challenges in remote areas. The project was instrumental in bringing people together, developing dialogue and trust, laying the groundwork for local democracy and empowering local stakeholders. This publication describes the experiences gained and provides a synthesis of the main conclusions and lessons. Its ultimate goals are to help others to capitalise on the lessons learned and to provide a basis for further interventions in the three pilot cross-border sites, or others areas facing similar development challenges.
