Green Horizon, the quarterly magazine of the REC, was published in printed form until 2008. Green Horizon assists the REC in its mission to promote public participation in environmental decision making by providing information on the environment and encouraging cooperation among regional stakeholders. The magazine continues to report on the cases and stories that shape the environment as Green Horizon Online (www.greenhorizon-online.com).
This issue's cover story examines the role of green architecture in creating a sustainable future. Other articles describe how Lithuanian park authorities are being threatened for merely doing their job; the environmental and economic fallout of post-Soviet restructuring in Georgia; and a mounting rubbish crisis in Bulgaria. It also contains an interview with Timo Makela, director of sustainable development and integration at DG Environment.
