The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), as host of the ENVSEC Initiative's Regional Desk Office for South Eastern Europe, is organising the Regional Meeting of the ENVSEC Initiative in South Eastern Europe to be held on June 6-8, 2012 in Struga, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The meeting will provide an opportunity to update participants on ENVSEC's current work programme, as well as facilitate discussions on future priorities and opportunities for the ENVSEC Initiative, with emphasis on the South Eastern European region.

The Environment and Security (ENVSEC) Initiative is a partnership of six international organisations: the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), REC, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as an associated partner. Launched in 2003, the ENVSEC Initiative contributes to the reduction of environment and security risks, and strengthens cooperation between and within countries that are vulnerable to environmental damage and competition over natural resources.
