On April 3 and 4, Mr. Mihail Dimovski attended the Istanbul Development Dialogues global development forum, joining policy makers, business leaders and diverse experts to discuss the issues of our time.
Mr. Mihail Dimovski, executive director of the REC, was one of the panellists during the second day of the Istanbul Development Dialogues Breakthrough to 2030, on April 4, 2018. The two-day event, which was organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was devoted to discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030, and insights were provided by those carrying out analysis and research, implementing projects, and programming developments. Mr. Dimovski was invited to participate in the session “PLANET – Stressed planetary boundaries, risk and resilience”, during which he presented the work of the REC in the areas of climate resilience, SDG implementation, and disaster risk assessment and management. The REC’s work contributes to all 17 of the goals, and the organisation has a track record and expertise in 28 percent of the targets (47 out of the total of 169). The REC’s work is implemented through eight areas of expertise: Education for Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Clean Energy Solutions, Environment and Health, Water Resources Management, Natural Resources, Smart Cities and Sustainable Mobility, Environmental Law, Policy and Instruments, and Civil Society Empowerment and Stakeholder Engagement.
