Submit your water-themed drawing! REC drawing competition still open for children in Jordan and Tunisia

December 6, 2016 | By Sara Shabani

Within the WATER SUM project and the Water, Growth and Security Initiative (WSGIni), the REC is organising a water-themed drawing competition for children from Jordan and Tunisia. The competition is funded by the Government of Sweden, while the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries and the Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation are providing patronage and national-level coordination. The IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (Jordan) and SONEDE International (Tunisia) are helping to coordinate local efforts.

The competition focuses on the relationship between water and people while highlighting local actions to preserve water resources. Suggested themes for the competition are the following:

  • Water for people
  • The relationship between water and people
  • Save the water
  • What does water mean to you?
  • Water is life!

The competition is still open to all children, who are residents of Tunisia and Jordan, aged 7 to 15 years old. It is an excellent way to motivate children in Tunisia and Jordan to express their creative side. The procedure is as follows: one original drawing should be sent to the address of the coordinator for your country, along with the completed application form.

Further guidance, more details and the application form (also in Arabic!) are available at:

This drawing competition is open from September 2016 to January 31, 2017. Winners will be presented at the Third Water, Growth and Stability Initiative Conference and WATER SUM Final Conference to be held in April 2017.

All applications must be received by January 31, 2017.

Now is the time focus on water and start drawing! We can't wait to see the results!
