Objectives:
- To reduce waste disposal on landfills,
- To raise awareness on the importance of composting
and to change perception of organic component of waste from ‘useless’
to ‘useful’,
- To increase the number of institutions and
households that practice composting,
- To bring together various sectors in resolving
the waste problem.
Activities:
CSO plans to conduct workshops for teachers and
students (elementary and secondary schools) and for citizens of
local community Aleksandrovo, to produce a publication-Manual for
Composting (in Serbian and Hungarian language), to install seven
composting units (in school, households and local municipality),
to carry out a media campaign (that includes production and broadcasting
of a movie about composting in Serbian and Hungarian language),
to publish Environmental Information Brochure “Horizonti”
(in Serbian and Hungarian language), to organize press conferences,
to make a public survey about composting and about how much the
citizens are interested in composting; and to provide consultancy
to those interested in composting.
Expected outcomes:
Raised awareness about benefits of composting,
and increased number of citizens engaged in composting practice.
This is expected to reduce solid waste disposal and enrich the soil,
and finally improve environmental situation, living conditions and
human health. CSO will organize 8 workshops, install seven composting
units (in school, households and local municipality), produce 500
publications “Manual for Composting”; produce a movie
about composting, publish 2.400 (4x800) Environmental Information
Brochure “Horizonti” (all of this in Serbian and Hungarian
language), organize two press conferences, make a public survey,
and create a date base.

Objectives:
- To set the bases for creation of sustainable
system for collection, transport and disposal of waste motor oils,
and implementation of the National Strategy for waste management,
- To improve waste management by creating Waste
Management Plan for Motor Waste Oils for the Municipality of Paracin,
- To promote investments and maximize economic
benefits generated from this type of waste.
Activities:
First, CSO plans to identifying the location of
motor waste oil generators, to determine the path and the amount
of waste oils created in Paracin, than to analyse the data obtained
in this first step, as well as analyse the policy and legislation
related to motor waste oil management, and compare it with international
practice (with emphasis on neighbouring countries). Using all this
information, CSO plans to create a Waste Management Plan for Motor
Waste Oils for the Municipality of Paracin, and to organize public
debate that will include stakeholders in decision making. In addition,
CSO plans to analyze the potential of motor waste oil use for heating,
conduct a demonstration project that includes construction of collection
point, as well as conduct an awareness raising campaign.
Expected outcomes:
Improved motor waste oil management, increased
amount of properly collected and transported motor waste oil; finally
project plans to contribute to creating more sustainable waste management
system that will improve energy efficiency of the community, environmental
situation, and health. CSO will produce: Waste Management Plan for
Motor Waste Oils for the Municipality of Paracin, Analysis of the
potential of motor waste oil use for heating; organize a public
debate; 400 leaflets, 200 CDs with Waste Management Plan for Motor
Waste Oils for the Municipality of Paracin, a billboard, 200 calendars;
construct a collection point for motor waste oils (volume 3 m3).

Objectives:
- To raise awareness about proper collection and
disposal of waste oils,
- To enable school professors to transfer the
knowledge related to proper waste oil management to students in
local vocational school,
- To strengthen private-public partnership in
solving waste oil problems.
Activities:
CSO plans to identify the enterprises that produce
waste oils, than consult with municipality inspectors, and do the
review of the legislation related to handling the waste oils; they
also plan to organize a seminar for professors about proper waste
oil management, workshop for entrepreneurs, lectures for students
in vocational schools, and a study tour - a visit to facilities
in charged with waste oil management. CSO also plans an awareness
raising campaign, that includes printing and distribution of promotional
material, and production and broadcasting of the TV slot about good
practise examples. In order to mobilize the community, CSO plans
to create partnerships among stakeholders (local municipality, waste
oils producers, association of entrepreneurs, retailers, technical
school), and carry out action of collecting waste oils.
Expected outcomes:
Raised public awareness regarding proper handling
of waste oils, current and potential producers of waste oils educated
about proper handling of waste oils, established partnerships between
civil sector, educational institutions and commercial sector.
CSO will produce: 500 leaflets, 100 brochures, 3 press conferences,
two-day workshop for professors and one workshop for entrepreneurs,
study tour for 50 selected participants, and 40 lectures (40xtwo
classes) for students in vocational schools.

Objectives:
- To provide basis for strategy for sustainable
urban development in cities in Serbia, by producing the document
with recommendations/guidelines, and define “sustainable
urban life style”,
- To identify key target groups in Serbia that
work on developing, adopting and implementing diverse planning
documentation in following fields: a) energy efficiency, b) sustainable
transport and c) urban planning, and connect them into a network,
- To promote sustainable urban life style as
a way for improving the quality of environment in cities.
Activities:
CSO plans to collect and analyse the information
on urban environmental issues (energy efficiency, urban planning
and sustainable transport in particular), define sustainable urban
life style and thus produce a draft of the “Guide for sustainable
life style”. They also plan to organize two roundtables for
identified organizations and institutions (that include Environmental
Secretariat, Ministry for Capital Investments, and Institute for
Architecture and Urban Planning), and create final “Guide
for sustainable life style”. These activities are accompanied
by awareness raising campaign.
Expected outcomes:
Project plans to engage professionals (urban planners,
architects, transport engineers) and the public in this project,
and strengthen the link between organizations and institutions in
charged with urban issues (Environmental Secretariat, Ministry for
Capital Investments, and Institute for Architecture and Urban Planning),
and raise awareness on environmental situation and “sustainable
urban life style”.
CSO will produce and distribute 500 brochures “Guide for sustainable
life style” that covers energy efficiency, urban planning
and sustainable transport, organize two round tables on energy efficiency
and sustainable transport, create a web site, produce press releases
and posters.

(an area with unique natural and cultural potential) and include
stakeholders in this process, in order to ensure sustainable development
of this region,
- To raise awareness about the value of Green
Corridor, about the importance of the protection and sustainable
management of the Corridor,
- To strengthen the role of civil society in planning
and decision making on local level.
Activities:
CSO plans to create Management Plan for Green
Corridor Kale-Sarlah through consultations and workshops that will
engage stakeholders: organizations, institutions and NGOs that deal
with environmental protection, urban planning and protection of
cultural heritage (Museum Ponisavlje, Institute for Protection of
Cultural Monuments, Public Enterprise for Forestry Srbijasume, PE
Urban Planning Pirot), as well as Women Association “Skilful
Hands”. CSO also plans awareness raising campaign that includes
billboards, radio shows, roundtables, producing and distributing
leaflets. Finally, CSO plans an action of arranging the Green Corridor
(project plans to organize cleaning, mark paths, put information
boards), that will engage citizens, NGOs from the region and schoolchildren.
Expected outcomes:
More sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage
of Green Corridor Kale-Sarlah, preservation of natural and cultural
heritage and economic benefits for the region; raised awareness
and strengthened civil sector.
CSO will produce: Management Plan for Green Corridor Kale-Sarlah,
3.000 leaflets, 1.000 posters, 500 brochures, 10 radio and 4 TV
slots, 4 roundtables, and 4 open forums, 10 information boards.

Objectives:
- To raise awareness and provide information on
the benefits of recovery and recycling of PET and used beverage
cans,
- To contribute to save resources and thus protect
environment,
- To use gathered information to create pilot
model for planning integrated collection of packaging on local
level
- To enhance the cooperation between public and
private actors in waste management.
Activities:
In first phase, CSO plans to participate in installing
the containers for separate waste collection (secondary raw materials
collection) in cooperation with Public Utilities Company Zrenjanin,
Recan and DEPO, and to estimate the population covered with separate
collection system, and the amount of secondary raw materials that
can be collected during the project period. Than they plan an informative
campaign in two languages (Serbian and Hungarian) that includes
20.000 informative leaflets delivered together with bill for waste
removal to households covered by separate collection system (leaflets
will contain information on newly installed infrastructure for collection
and benefits of recovery and recycling); billboards (20 billboards
for the period of one week); public campaign-basketball game on
the streets of Zrenjanin under the slogan “The basket for
the clean city”; and conference where results are presented.
CSO also plans educational campaign for schools that include workshops,
posters, leaflets, brochures, as well as collecting material provided
to the schools (collection boxes and jambo bags) and actions of
collecting cans in schools on the territory of Municipality of Zrenjanin.
Expected outcomes:
Increased rate of recovered packages (PET and
cans) in Zrenjanin (minimum 150 kg of cans collected); campaign:
20 billboards, 20000 leaflets in Serbian and Hungarian language,
300 schoolchildren educated about recovery and recycling in 10 schools;
and created a pilot model for planning integrated collection of
packaging on local level by using the data gathered in this process.

Objectives:
- To raise public awareness in Novi Sad and Vojvodina
about rational use of electric energy in households,
- To develop capacities of partner organizations
for dealing with the problem of energy inefficiency.
Activities:
First, CSO plans educational campaign for young
people through workshops and lectures about rational use of electric
energy (in cooperation with Faculty for Technical Sciences, Provincial
Secretariat for Sport and Youth, Provincial Secretariat for environmental
protection and sustainable development, Student Union). Second,
in the practical part – CSO plans to involve households and
replace the energy inefficient products (light bulbs) with energy
efficient ones in households and give instructions to household
members on rational use of electric energy. CSO also plans to open
the Centre for Energy Efficiency for Households, which will provide
consultations to citizens and inform about possibilities of rational
use of electric energy in households through web service, via e-mail,
in person, through eco-phone line, and library. They also plan an
awareness raising campaign that includes producing and distributing
promo materials (in Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, Slovakian language),
press conferences, briefing for journalists, advertising in media,
TV slot, radio jingle, web site, public promotions, open competition
for drawings and paintings in primary and secondary schools.
Expected outcomes:
Raised public awareness on sustainable use of
energy resources in urban areas with focus on energy efficiency,
energy efficient devices in particular, and changed consumers’
habits in this respect; educated young people through this project
and established Center for Energy Efficiency in Households; and
finally, reduced energy consumption in households in Vojvodina and
thus reduced negative impact on environment. CSO will produce: 2.500
brochures, press conferences, advertising in media, TV slot, radio
jingle, web site; open the Centre for Energy Efficiency for Households;
train 20 young people; replace the energy inefficient products (light
bulbs) with energy efficient ones in 20 households.

Objectives:
- To promote waste separation at its source, recycling
and waste reduction by changing existing consumers’ habits
of teachers, pupils, citizens and communal enterprises’
employees,
- To improve the attitude of citizens toward
environment, with focus on waste; to raise awareness about the
importance of their active involvement in the process of separating
waste, recycling on the territory of Pancevo Municipality,
- To provide information on good waste management
practice in languages of different ethnic groups in Pancevo,
- To educate the media on waste separation, recycling,
waste minimization, reuse, in order to achieve adequate media
coverage of these issues,
- To enhance cooperation between stakeholders:
citizens, schools, local government, NGO sector, media, public
utility enterprise, as key actors in solid waste management,
- To set a model of promoting good waste management
practice, applicable to other municipalities.
Activities:
First, CSO plans an awareness raising campaign
about recycling that includes preparation, printing and distribution
of promo material (leaflets and billboard). They also plan to prepare,
translate and publish the Glossary of Recycling in Romanian, Hungarian,
Slovakian, Bulgarian and Serbian language. The continuation of awareness
raising campaign includes preparing the cycle of radio shows under
the title Recycling-Way of Urban Sustainability and broadcasting
on Radio Pancevo, press conference, and participation in TV program.
In addition, CSO plans to organize a workshop for teachers, workshops
for pupils in schools, and a workshop for other stakeholders. In
the end, they will have an action of cleaning the area Ponjavica,
river bank area under protection.
Expected outcomes:
Raised awareness of multiethnic community about
the importance of public participation in finding solutions to the
problems of adequate solid waste treatment and introduction of recycling,
as a road to urban sustainability; created pilot model for educating
students and teachers. CSO will produce: 20.000 leaflets, 300 posters,
web portal, publish Glossary of Recycling (400 in Serbian, and 600
in Romanian, Hungarian, Slovakian, Bulgarian), 15 radio shows, workshop
for teachers, 16 workshops for pupils in schools, and a workshop
for other stakeholders.

Objectives:
- To collect the data about thermal isolation
of buildings,
- To raise awareness about the importance and
necessity of more efficient use of heating energy,
- To raise awareness of city officials regarding
system of payment of consumed heating energy, by lobbying for
introduction of payments that are proportional to the amount of
consumed heating energy, and introduction of mandatory inspection
of thermal isolation of new buildings using Infra Red Camera method.
Activities:
CSO plans to conduct a control of thermal isolation
of buildings; they plan to do the measurements of the efficiency
of isolation using infra red camera, analyse the results, and then
produce the report about efficiency of thermal isolation of buildings.
CSO also plans to produce and distribute a brochure about energy
efficiency and thermal isolation of buildings, and present the results
at press conferences and TV roundtables, as well as lobby for change
in payment system (introduction of payments that are proportional
to the amount of consumed heating energy) and introduction of mandatory
inspection of thermal isolation of new buildings using Infra Red
Camera method.
Expected outcomes:
Raised awareness about the importance of energy
efficiency in buildings, increased energy efficiency and heating
energy savings in Novi Sad, and more sustainable heating energy
use.
CSO will produce: 1500 leaflets, 1500 Brochures about energy efficiency
and thermal isolation of buildings, two press conferences and two
TV roundtables.
