Description of process

This step of the process is optional, depending on needs and on the financial terms of the project agreed by the donor. The NGOs are informed about the training step in the grants announcement. They are invited to participate in it through the concept paper approval letter.

When the national grants programme is initiated by the head office, the training agenda is prepared in cooperation with the Capacity Building Programme. The training aims to meet the needs of the selected NGOs. The training might cover proposal writing, logical framework, and financial management and/or media components.
The COGM organises and delivers the training where local NGOs involved in the selected concept papers are assisted in the preparation of full proposals. The training is organised before the NGOs begin preparing the full proposals. Trainers provide pointers on the process, particularly on preparation of indicators.

Sometimes country offices invite independent trainers for the NGO training.  In this case the trainers are identified based on training needs. A training of trainers is organised by the REC prior to the NGO training to brief the trainers on the desired outcomes of the NGO training.
