Legal Recourse/
Advocacy
  • What is Legal Recourse/Advocacy?
  • What are your country/territory’s legal and/or administrative procedures (e.g. complaints mechanisms) to advance a position, or stimulate official action (e.g. prepare and submit cases or appeals to court)?
  • How to use these in responding to derogations (violation of rights) regarding:
    o public reporting requirements,
    o public access to information,
    o rights to associate/campaign/demonstrate,
    o participation in decision-making processes.
Public Participation
  • What is Public Participation?
  • What are the relevant policies, agreements, legal avenues and institutions in your country/territory for exercising public participation?
  • How to involve constituent stakeholders as a means to speaking with one, informed voice.
  • How to become partners to the government, give meaningful and constructive input, and successfully negotiate toward consensus.
