Regional REEEP Secretariat About the REEEP

Initiated at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in August 2002 by the UK government, REEEP works with all stakeholders to translate commitments for sustainable energy into concrete actions on the ground. REEEP focuses on specific actions in two key areas: policy and regulations: assisting governments with regulatory policy frameworks which integrate renewables into the energy mix, promote energy efficiency and help establishing "investor friendly" climates; and innovative financing: assisting with the creation of renewable energy funds, financing models, ESCO business models, tradable renewable energy certificates schemes, and bundling of small-scale projects. The REEEP currently has regional secretariats covering Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey, East Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, North America, Russia and FSU, South Asia, South East Asia and Pacific, and Southern Africa. REEEP International Secretariat is based in Vienna (Austria). The Regional Environmental Center serves as secretariat for Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey.
