Directory of Environmental Information Centres, Resources and Services
This Inventory and Needs Assessment for Central and Eastern Europe lists 361 libraries from 15 countries and includes contact data for each library as well as detailed breakdowns of their holdings. The key findings section (470-KByte PDF file) provides information about the current situation of environmental libraries in CEE, the needs of the libraries and the obstacles these libraries and environmental information specialists are confronted with. The directory provides recommendations on how the environmental libraries in Central and Eastern Europe could be developed.

The REC Library
The REC library provides access to books, periodicals and electronic resources, constituting the largest collection of English-language  environmental information in Central and Eastern Europe. Bibliographic references to these resources are now available via an online catalogue.

Information Request Service
This service allows you to receive reference information related to a broad range of topics about Central and Eastern Europe, including state of the environment assessment, contact details to professional expertise, legal and policy documentation and good environmental governance. Our library team will search the REC's library, Web site, publications, newsletters and the Web sites of other organisations to get the environmental information that you need! Send us an e-mail and we will answer your request within five working days.

Corporate and private clients are invited to submit details of their specific research requests and REC will respond by detailing the services it can provide and corresponding rates.

Balkan Information Service
The Balkan Information Service was established to assist environmental stakeholders (governments, NGOs, media and academia) and the general public interested in obtaining information about the Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP) and its implementation process. During the period of 2000-2003 the service offered comprehensive information on all projects undertaken in the framework of the Programme and serves as a gateway to environmental information about the Balkans.
