The
Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC)
publishes a variety of print and electronic materials in English
and local languages.
As a regional publisher, the REC has accumulated vast experience
in publishing materials in the languages of Central and Eastern
Europe, along with our standard language of English. In addition
to our two English-language editors on staff, we have local-language
contacts around the region.
A good example of the publishing team's versatility is the multi-media
Green Pack. This environmental education kit contains a teacher’s
manual, an interactive CD-ROM, role-playing cards and a videocassette.

New
face for European Eco-label
The REC’s Publishing Department recently completed 247 brochures
in the 19 official languages of the European Union heralding the
merits of the EU’s Eco-label. A guide to greener shopping,
the Eco-label helps consumers to find products that are environmentally
friendly without compromising value or effectiveness.
The brochures consist of one general informational brochure about
the Eco-label and how to aquire it, and 12 thematic brochures about
specific product groups. Although environmental benefits are stressed,
the brochures also list health and value benefits of products bearing
the Eco-label.
