This technical report was produced in the framework of the WaSe component of the WATER SUM project. The countries included in the assessment are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt in North Africa; and Lebanon, Jordan and Syria in the Middle East. The results of indicator-based benchmarking suggest that the implementation of the WaSe component is most feasible in Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco. The establishment of a permanent structure for regional cooperation on local water security is highly recommended, as a seed for future collaboration across boundaries.
The WaSe component of the WATER SUM project is implemented by the REC's Local Governance Topic Area with funding from the Government of Sweden.
