What’s Shaking

Newsletter of the SEiSMiC project

February 2016 | Online | Periodical

This issue of What’s Shaking focuses on the SEiSMiC National Network in Germany. It explores a trend in German cities: administrations ceding ground to civil society in the shaping, and even the management, of urban development. Other articles discuss online mapping and how it has helped Germany handle the refugee crisis; finding new ways to assess value in city neighbourhoods; and a new international group of urban activists focused on ways to resuscitate brownfield sites and other disused properties.

The SEiSMiC project supports and adds a social dimension to JPI Urban Europe. It is funded by the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration, and is implemented with the participation of the REC's Smart Cities and Mobility Topic Area.
