Newsletter of the WATER POrT component of the WATER SUM project
This second issue of the WATER POrT newsletter opens with statements by ministers responsible for water-related issues in Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia, in which they outline current challenges in the water sector and describe the benefits of the WATER SUM project. Page 2 presents a profile of one of the project demonstration sites in Egypt — the Rosetta branch of the Nile — which provides water to meet domestic and agricultural demand. Key messages from recent workshops and training events are summarised on page 3, which also features a round-up of WATER SUM input to World Water Week 2016, which took place between August 28 and September 2 in Stockholm. The newsletter closes with the results of the recent WATER SUM photo competition, a list of upcoming events, and an invitation to be part of the WATER POrT online forum.
The WATER POrT component of the WATER SUM project is being implemented by the REC’s Water Management Topic Area, with funding from the Government of Sweden.
