Local environmental and energy action plans (LEAPs) are tools that can help local communities to map the current situation and organise activities to improve the overall state of the environment and energy use. In order to develop LEAPs in selected cities in Ukraine (Cherkasy, Poltava and Ivano-Frankivsk) the U.S. Department of State’s Regional Environment, Science and Technology, and Health (ESTH) Hub has partnered with the REC to bring together policy makers, businesspeople, academics and civil society leaders at the municipal level. Properly designed and implemented, these LEAPs can be important stepping stones towards establishing sustainable development plans at local level throughout Ukraine.
This newly developed project website details project efforts to date, including: news and video, information on the participating municipalties, a photo gallery, and a reference document on LEAP methodology.
The project is funded by the U.S. Department of State and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands.
