Adapted forest management in Austria

Adapted forest management in Austria

OrientGate Pilot Study 1

November 2014 | Print | Leaflet

Under the OrientGate project's Thematic Centre on Forestry and Agriculture, two pilot studies were carried out: Pilot Study 1 focused on climate change adaptation in the forests of the Austrian Alps; and Pilot Study 2 investigated agricultural adaptation in Romania. This leaflet explores the findings of the pilot study carried out in Austria at the Federal Environmental Agency’s ecosystem research site LTER Zobelboden. The study developed model-based scenarios of climate change impacts on the amount and quality of water run-off, which is influenced by forest management. Scenario results will be used to explore adaptation strategies with local authorities, forest managers and policy makers.

The OrientGate project is implemented with the contribution of the REC's Environmental Financing and Climate Change and Clean Energy Topic Areas, and is co-funded by the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme.
