The WATER SUM project promotes the more sustainable use of water resources in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. As outlined in this leaflet, the goal of the project is to reinforce integrated resources management and regional cooperation on water-related issues, taking into consideration the impacts of climate change. The three-year project is divided into two components: WATER POrT, which provides a platform for building skills and transferring knowledge; and WaSe, which focuses on building local partnerships to ensure water security. The project will be harmonised with other initiatives in the region, ensuring the replicability and transfer of successful approaches within the MENA region and beyond. This leaflet is an updated version of a publication first produced in October 2014.
The WATER POrT component is implemented by the REC's Water Management Topic Area and the WaSe component is implemented by the REC's Local Governance Topic Area. The WATER SUM project is funded by the Government of Sweden.
