Newsletter of the Environmental Protection of International River Basins project
The Environmental Protection of International River Basins (EPIRB) project targets the improvement of water quality in transboundary river basins in the wider Black Sea region and Belarus. Issue 2 of the newsletter features interviews with the head of water resources management services in Georgia, and the deputy director of the Armenian State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Service, who describe the key water management challenges facing their countries and how the EPIRB project is helping to overcome them. Other articles introduce the river basin analyses being carried out in pilot river basins, and two recent sampling manuals that have been developed in the course of field surveys to help build the capacities of national authorities to achieve compliance with the Water Framework Directive. The issue also contains a summary of recent project-related events and meetings.
The EU-funded EPIRB project is implemented with the assistance of the REC's Water Management Topic Area, as part of a consortium led by Hulla and Co. Human Dynamics KG.
