Since its foundation, the REC has played an important role in supporting environmental democracy by facilitating and increasing the transparency of environmental decision-making processes in the region and beyond.
The Toolkit on Public Participation in Environmental Decision Making is another illustration of the long-term assistance the REC has provided in relation to environmental democracy, regulated internationally by the Aarhus Convention.
This toolkit gives an overview of how the public participation principles of the Aarhus Convention are being harmonised in South Eastern Europe, and provides ideas and advice for public officials on how to organise and benefit from public involvement.
Designed primarily for public officials, the toolkit will also be of value to other stakeholders (such as investors, project developers, representatives of the public or NGOs).
The toolkit has been published in four languges: Bosnian, Kosovan Albanian, Macedonian and Montenegrin.
This publication is only available in local language.
