Pollution in the Drina River Basin

Pollution in the Drina River Basin

An inventory of potential sources

July 2011 | Print | Book

One component of the project "Enhancing cross-border cooperation in the Drina River basin to fight poverty and improve water management through support to the Drina River Committee" focused on drawing up a basin-wide inventory of potential sources of pollution that could pose a significant threat to water resources in the basin. This inventory of significant pressures in the catchment area of the Drina River that may result in transboundary pollution is intended to help prevent further contamination and to facilitate the protection of the river basin environment. It also provides recommendations to assist authorities in the riparian countries to establish a methodology for a preliminary risk assessment of the identified sources of pollution.
