Eltis facilitates the exchange of information, good practices and tools in the field of sustainable urban mobility. It is Europe's main observatory on urban mobility, providing news, case studies, facts and figures to support cities in the transition towards resource-efficient mobility. It also supports the development of the sustainable urban mobility plan (SUMP) concept and the tools needed for its successful application.
The REC's specific goals as dissemination leader in the project were to:
- further develop the Eltis website by providing online content, ensuring quality control, and improving website architecture and usability;
- optimise the website for Google;
- undertake promotional activities for Eltis;
- organise workshops to promote SUMPs; and
- operate the Eltis helpdesk.
As part of the consortium implementing the project, the REC team wrote regular news articles and case studies for Central and Eastern Europe and provided a legislation database, videos and other online content in order to further promote the Eltis portal. The REC was also responsible for running the Eltis helpdesk and translating a vast amount of content into European languages. The REC's second task was to help organise awareness-raising and technical workshops in order to accelerate the development and uptake of SUMPs across Europe. The REC also helped to disseminate research results.
The REC contributed 45 online case studies and 148 news items. It also translated 184 case studies into 14 European languages, represented the website at 34 international conferences, and contributed 17 articles to professional journals and online news portals.
