REC ED to take part in Montenegro talks

Budva will host mid-September discussions on Aarhus Convention, PRTR Protocol

On invitation from the Government of Montenegro, the Montenegrin city of Budva will host a series of important, UNECE-organised meetings later this month, beginning with the sixth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention), which will take place on September 11-13, 2017. The third session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (Protocol on PRTRs) follows on September 15. Associated preparatory meetings are scheduled from September 10-15, with a meeting of the joint High-level Segment taking place on September 14.

REC Executive Director Mihail Dimovski has been invited to the High-level Segment meeting to speak about REC activities and involvement in Central and South Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe in the following areas:

  • widening stakeholder involvement in obtaining better access to justice; and
  • promoting Aarhus Convention implementation by facilitating legal and policy reform processes.
