On June 6, 2017, the REC announced the appointment of Abedin Azizi as the new director of REC Office Kosovo*.
Azizi holds a PhD degree in chemical-environmental engineering. He started his career as a teaching assistant and later worked as a lecturer at the University of Pristina. He has held several senior positions over the course of his professional career, from senior engineer and team leader to local project manager and director of a public utility company. This diverse background has provided him with ample skills with which to manage internationally funded projects, monitor project cycles, and develop communication with local and international stakeholders. Mr. Azizi brings a results-oriented and team-focused attitude to REC Office Kosovo*.
Azizi’s 18 years of work experience also include participation in various water and environmental projects with local and international engineering companies. He has been involved in developing feasibility studies, and in designing and managing the implementation of projects related to drinking water infrastructure, water resources management and climate change.
Azizi will assume full responsibilities as director of REC Office Kosovo* later this month.
The REC would like to express its gratitude to the outgoing office director, Agron Bektashi, for his years of service. The REC extends its best wishes to him, and hopes for opportunities to work together in the future.
* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
