Hungarian President to join Road to Paris campaign

May 7, 2015

AderHungarian President Janos Ader has announced that he will join the Road to Paris campaign initiated by Al Gore. During a May 6 press conference Ader talked about the evidence of climate change, already available solutions, the positive impacts of green technologies, and the challenges of the Paris climate summit.

The Hungarian president then praised Gore for recognising the significance of momentum and his campaign initiative, saying that it was during a March telephone call that Gore informed him of the campaign details. Ader welcomed the message and expressed his agreement on the importance of global civil efforts aimed at sending a message to world leaders calling for a more ambitious and responsible climate agreement.

A Hungarian website, similar to the U.S. initiative, will unite citizens, corporations and organisations to create local demand for a strong COP21 agreement that will dramatically cut emissions and accelerate a planet-wide shift to clean energy. The results of the petition will be shared with the U.S. team, pursuant to the Hungarian Data Protection Act.

The REC is proud to support the efforts of the The Climate Reality Project and the Road to Paris campaign as the regional branch for Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey. Please sign the global petition and demand that world leaders sign a strong agreement at the Paris climate negotiations in December 2015.
