Support for environmental journalists and communicators

REEEP Media Award winners have been designated
The first REEEP Media Awards for Excellence in Sustainable Energy Reporting in Central and Eastern Europe have been bestowed. The competition received applications from throughout CEE, including Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary and Latvia. The evaluation committee for the media award consisted of a mix of experts in different fields. Journalists with considerable experience in covering renewable energy and energy efficiency looked into the quality of journalism, structure and dynamics of the stories, and other journalistic aspects of the competition entries. Experts from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership secretariat for CEE evaluated the quality of information regarding renewable energy and energy efficiency, and the impact of the entries. Climate change in the mountains for Russian Journalists
Twelve journalists from different regions of Russia received hands-on training by Green Horizon, at a training organized by the Russian Regional Environmental Center (RREC) in August 2007. Direct access to scientists, local stakeholders, and to the glaciers under Europe's highest peak, Mount Elbrus, and hands-on work made up the course.. Read more

REEEP Media Award for Excellence in Sustainable Energy Reporting in Central and Eastern Europe
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) and Green Horizon — the quarterly magazine of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) — in partnership with The Guardian Foundation proudly announce the award for journalists covering sustainable energy in their stories and reports. The award fund is EUR 2,750. Read more


A training for CEE journalists covering sustainable energy
Green Horizon and the Guardian Foundation with REEEP's financial support held a training for journalists covering sustainable energy. Sixteen journalists from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey participated in the training, held in Latvia's capital Riga on October 25 - 28, 2006. Read more


Croatian Environmental Press Centre founded
CEPC will encourage environmental journalists in Croatia to network with each other, as well as with colleauges from Serbia and Montenegro. It will also arrange workshops and cooperation with environmental NGOs.
