The official closing event of the EEA Grants Adaptation to Climate Change programme takes place on April 19, 2017. The REC, as fund operator, will present the achieved outputs, outcomes and positive impacts of the 10 implemented projects. The event will showcase the sustainability and high value of the programme by also introducing new activities, projects and fruitful cooperation that arose from this programme.
The Adaptation to Climate Change programme supported the setting up of the National Adaptation Geoinformatic System (NAGiS), which lays the foundation for and promotes adaptation-related policies and development measures, strategy building and decision making in Hungary at local, regional and national levels. Other important elements of the programme were: raising public awareness of the impacts of climate change; mobilising relevant stakeholders and local decision makers; training officials responsible for developing and implementing local adaptation strategies; and building local resilience to the effects of climate change through examining impact and vulnerability interactions. The pilot projects implemented under the programme offer representative and replicable solutions for climate protection and climate resilience. The programme also fostered cooperation between the donor states and Hungarian entities, and contributed to strengthening bilateral relations in the field of adaptation to climate change.
European Economic Area (EEA) Grants are financial mechanisms established by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and are designed to reduce economic and social disparities and to strengthen bilateral relations between 16 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltics.
The REC cordially invites you and your colleagues to participate in this closing event. We look forward to welcoming you!
