Although the focus of the REC’s work is on implementing environmental
projects and programmes, the REC also sees itself as an active
practitioner of sustainability. The REC collects plastic, metal
and batteries for recycling, composts biowaste, and encourages
its staff to use ecologically sound means of transport.
While the technology employed in the new conference centre
makes zero emissions possible, the human factor still plays a
critical role. For the sake of our planet, it is essential that
our behaviour and our attitudes are governed by the requirements
of sustainability.
