Information Required by the Kyoto Protocol
- Under Art. 3, prior to the first session of COP serving as a meeting
of the Parties to the Protocol, each Annex I Party shall provide
data to establish its carbon stocks in its base
year.
- Under Art. 5 each Annex I Party shall have in place, no later than
one year prior to the start of the first commitment period, a national
system for the estimation of GHG emissions and removals by sinks.
- Under Art. 7 each Annex I Party shall incorporate in its annual inventory
of anthropogenic emissions and removals by sinks of GHG, the necessary
supplementary information for the purposes
of ensuring compliance with targets. Such supplementary information
shall be submitted annually, beginning with the first inventory due
under the Convention for the first year of the commitment period after
the Protocol has entered into force. Countries shall use the guidelines
for the preparation of such information adopted by the COP.
- Under Art 8 the information submitted by Annex I countries shall
be reviewed by expert review teams
as a part of the annual compilation and accounting of emissions inventories
and assigned amounts.
