The Regional Environmental Center for CEE
Capacity for Climate Protection in Central and Eastern Europe

Advisory Committee

Mandate and role of the Advisory Committee

An Advisory Committee was formed in order to contribute to the project activities, providing guidelines and advices, review findings and define needed follow-up at each stage of the project, furthermore to promote dialogue between governments, businesses and NGOs within the CEE countries. The componence of the AC has been defined that both East and West should equally be represented in the AC. The members had been selected to provide a good representation of the CEE region through the ministries as well as relevant international organizations, financial institutions and experts of climate issues (concepts like joint implementation, emission trading, IPCC directives on emission reporting, economic instruments).

The main AC tasks are the following:

  • To promote the know-how transfer (both between the East and West representatives of the Committee as well as between the Committee and the partner countries)
  • To identify issues or areas that could be of interest for discussions within the future workshops
  • To provide input on the case studies prepared by the partner NGOs
  • To help in creating the link between the partner NGOs and the main players in the international climate process.

The Advisory Committee has a meeting once or twice a year. The next one will be held on 9-10 April, 2002 in REC Headquarters, Szentendre, Hungary.
