Ahmet Erkan Kideys | Professor, Middle East Technical University, Institute of Marine Sciences, Republic of Turkey

Professor Ahmet Erkan Kideys is a marine biologist with a PhD degree from the Liverpool University, UK and possesses over 30 years of experience in marine ecosystem assessment and environmental/fisheries management gained through having carried out high quality university research, implementing projects with a large number of key scientific publications and positions held in NGO and governmental/intergovernmental institutions.

His recently held positions include Black Sea Ecosystem and Fishery expert at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (2005-2007) and Executive Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Commission on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution (i.e. Black Sea Commission) of the Bucharest Convention (2007-2011). He was the Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences of the Middle East Technical University from April 2012-November 2016 where he continues to work as a member of academic staff.
