Hasan Z. Sarikaya is a professor of environmental engineering with teaching and research experience of more than 40 years. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Istanbul Technical University and Marmara University in Turkey, and King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the board of the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration between 1994 and 2002, and subsequently served as deputy minister at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Between 2003 and 2010 he was a member of the Black Sea Commission and a member of the board of the European Environment Agency. Professor Sarikaya has served as Turkish representative for negotiations on climate change and EU bilateral screening, and for regional conventions. He has published over 150 scientific papers and contributed to many conferences in the field of environmental management and engineering.
