ECENA Workshop on Benchmarking
and Progress Monitoring in Environmental Compliance and Enforcement
The workshop on benchmarking was held on the 29th-30th of March, 2007 in the REC Conference Center in Szentendre The training focused on the understanding of benchmarking, the benefits of it, its critical factors, how and when to use it and who should be involved in the benchmarking process. Besides the presentations the program had an interactive training part with the active participation of the invited officials. Discussions were included about the situation in the countries in the highlight of benchmarking and the permitting system and inspections of installations. Participants were prepared with a presentation on the situation of their country from benchmarking, progress monitoring point of view. The participants of the training programme came from the Ministries of Environment and Inspectorates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo under interim UN administration.
