CAPE Conferences and Workshops

Conferences

The first Pan-European Environment Telematics User Forum was held in Munich, Germany on June 21 at the Munich Gesundheitshaus. The conference concentrated on good practice environment telematics projects and served a roughly equal European Union /central and east European (CEE) target audience of around 80 delegates, represented primarily by local and regional government experts. The International Society for Environmental Protection, POLIS and the Regional Environmental Center were responsible for organising this Forum. Proceedings have been compiled and are now available online.

A separate Transport Telematics Forum took place in Prague, Czech Republic at a conference facility in Pruhonice, September 17-18. The conference presented the results of good practice telematics projects primarily in the transport field and targeted local government transport experts from the central and east European region. Over 100 delegates attended. The Prague Project Institute and Rupprecht Consult organized the conference. The conference proceedings are now available online for download in MS Word format.

Workshops

The first Pan-European Environment Telematics User Workshop was held in conjunction with the above Munich conference and took place on June 22. It focused on facilitating the uptake of environment telematics projects and closely examined how applications might be transferred and adapted to new locations such as those in CEE. Some 40 delegates attended, including representatives from both CEE and the EU. The Regional Environmental Center together with ISEP and POLIS were responsible for organising this workshop. Proceedings have been compiled and are now available online.

Two similar know-how sharing workshops were organised for the transport sector as a follow-up to the Prague Transport Forum. The first event took place in Warsaw, Poland on October 8. The second took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, on October 15. Both meetings facilitated the uptake of transport telematics in CEE, and examined the opportunities for their transfer and application. Some 30 delegates attended each of the workshops. The Warsaw meeting was intended (although not exclusively) for northern CEE participants, while the Sofia meeting was intended primarily for participants from southern central Europe. Summaries for Sofia and Warsaw are now available online.

The Prague Project Institute and Rupprecht Consult organised the Warsaw and Sofia meetings (for the Sofia event assistance was provided by Dr. Dimo Dimov, who is a member of SETREF, and Gestionnaires Sans Frontières.

Further information concerning these meetings can be gained from the project partners, profiled on the main CAPE page.
