(Release from the REC in support of South Eastern European environmental NGO electronic networks.) (Sofia, Bulgaria, April 22, 2003) A regional content sharing platform has been launched at www.see-environment.info. Through this platform eight environmental NGOs networks from South Eastern Europe (SEE) share information from their websites and publish special materials. Readers can participate by relaying relevant information from their local electronic networks. The platform addresses NGO needs by including information about: potential partners: environmental NGOs and their activities in the region; funding opportunities and available donors in the region; NGO experiences and best practices; common problems and the best solutions for them; Improvements in communication tools in the region; and multilateral environmental agreements and EU legislation implementation in each of the participants’ countries. You can also find: news about events, meetings, important decisions that affect the region; campaign information concerning environmental NGO initiatives and actions directed at "hot" problems; and announcements, which include postings from potential partners, updates on NGO activities, invitations and application forms. Contributing partners include NGO networks from: Albania - Center for Electronic Communication; Bosnia and Herzegovina - EkoMrezaBiH; Bulgaria - BlueLink Information Network; Croatia - Zelena Istra; Kosovo/a - Sharri.Net; Moldova - OrangeNet; Romania - StrawberryNet and Serbia and Montenegro - Volvox The initiative is supported by Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) within the GTZ grants for cooperative NGO projects. The content exchange process was made possible by methodology developed by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC). The content exchange automatically pulls information from web sites that use APC's free software, ActionApps. BlueLink and StrawberryNet are members of APC from South Eastern Europe.
