Multilateral Environmental Agreements in South Eastern Europe

Networks

The AIMS project led to the successful establishment of a regional network of MEA legal experts as national focal points for assessment, capacity building and institutional support. It also led to the establishment of a regional network of senior officials, which conducts regular joint meetings.
  • Regional Network of MEA Lawyers in South Eastern Europe
This network consists of one legal expert in each beneficiary country. Each legal expert has prepared a "country assessment" on the status of "acceptance and implementation" of MEAs in his/her country. Please see the list of MEA legal experts (9-KByte PDF file) in SEE countries.
  • Network of Senior Officials in South Eastern Europe
This network consists of "national focal points" appointed by each country for the AIMS project. The main task of focal points is organisation of a multi-stakeholder consultation process at the national level to help define priorities of assistance for acceptance and implementation of MEAs. Please see the list of focal points (9-KByte PDF file). The AIMS Network is the focal point for international cooperation on the preparation of the category II document “Acceptance and Implementation of UNECE Multilateral Environmental Agreements in South Eastern Europe” for the 2007 Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference.
  • Joint Network of MEA Legal Experts and Senior Officials (AIMS Network)
Joint Network of Legal Experts and Senior Officials helped to facilitate work under the project.
The AIMS Network ensured cooperation and coordination of relevant MEA activities under the project and beyond its boundaries among the relevant officials and legal experts from the region. By the end of the project, the AIMS Network included 46 members
