| Call to local action Seventy people interested in sustainable local development in the Balkans attended a two-day workshop at Ohrid Lake October 17-18. Organised by the REC Country Office former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the training attracted representatives of municipal governments, ministries, embassies, international organisations and other REC offices. The workshop focused on local environmental action plans (LEAPs) as a tool to unlock international funds for sustainable development. Municipalities were encouraged to build their capacities to attract such funds, which can finance environmental projects and community infrastructure.
