The BERCEN Secretariat in cooperation with local experts has undertaken the needs assessment of the legal structure and resources available to the enforcement agencies and inspectorates in each BERCEN member country. This effort has produced an overview of the existing environmental compliance and enforcement mechanisms in the countries and provided the groundwork for further planning of BERCEN's activities.
