The Effective Water Protection on Rural Areas in Podonavje Using Ecoremediation USD 10,000

Project Summary:
The aim of the project is to introduce possibilities of using ecoremediations (ERM) as the most perspective way of water protection to local population. ERM contributes to reducing negative impacts of agriculture on waters, to improving water quality and it is the way to protect and restore devastated environment using the natural ecosystems. Within the project the booklet on ERM will be prepared, the poster, DVD and education program for farmers and local inhabitants in Podravje area.

Preserving the Water by Promoting the Production and Use of Phosphate-free Detergents USD 10,000

Project Summary:
The aim of the project is to influence on the consumption habits regarding use of phosphate-free detergents. Overall project's goal is to increase use of phosphate-free detergents and indirectly to contribute to the improvement of the ecological and chemical status of the water in the Danube river basin within Slovenia regions. Following means will be used to approach local population, especially young people: the questionnaire, the publication will be prepared and distributed, media promotion will be organized within special public events, the web site will be designed.

Underground Water and Farmers USD 10,000

Project Summary: Project is aimed to pollution reduction of water sources due to agricultural use of land and to biodiversity conservation in the landscape park Lahinja. The purpose of the project is to introduce ecological farming methods to the key stakeholders who are living in the naturally protected area through various workshops and field activities. Within the project three workshops will be organized as well as three public events - field activities, important for biodivesity preservation – appropriate cutting of swamp meadows, plucking of alder trees and cleaning of water banks. Wide promotion in local media is foreseen.

Individual Waste Water Cleaning Systems for Households and Farms in the Areas of Dispersed Settlements USD 10,000
NGO Name: ICRO, Institut for Integral Development and Environment
Project Summary:
The purpose of the project is to raise awareness among the farmers and other residents in dispersed settlements of Volcji potok area (where the sewage system is yet to be built) about the consequences of non-properly built sump systems and cesspits on farms, which has an important impact on the groundwater. The possibilities for restoration of the existing sumps and cesspits with proper ecological upgrades which are suitable for the country side will be presented. Workshop for residents and farmers in the area will be organized, the pamphlet will be produced and distributed, call for research projects addressing primary school children will be launched, articles for media will be prepared and the web site will be designed.
