The
project will research nutrient and toxic pollution reduction in
the Lower Prut Basin, promote the implementation of the Alert System
in the respective region, raise public and LPA awareness and knowledge,
strengthen efforts and cooperation towards prevention, minimization
and liquidation of hotspots of pollution and disseminate the results
on the local and regional scales. Also, the project will promote
the BAP, working directly with the farmers.

stage of water purifying process (biological) in the waste water
treatment plant from Valea Mare locality which discharges its water
directly in the Prut River. The activities of the project will lead
to the minimization of the destructive effect of discharged waters,
wii contribute further to improve and conservate the Prut river
natural ecosystem, in the context of a sustainable development and
will contribute to pollution combating and prevention through information,
education and cooperation.

| Project Summary: |
The
project aims to increase the cooperation between LPA, farmers, local
population, environmental and agriculture field NGOs etc. to promote
the use of the best agriculture practices in order to reduce and
prevent nutrient and toxic pollution issued from agriculture sector.
The project foresees a wide public information and education campaign.
A complex training session involving farmers and agriculture experts
will be held initiating them in the use of environmentally friendly
agriculture methods leading to pollution reduction of the small
tributaries of the Prut River Basin. The activities of the project
target directly to change the behaviour of the local population
and farmers, as well as motivate and involve the local authorities
in these problems solution.

The
objectives of the project are to reduce and prevent nutrient and
toxic pollution in the Danube River Basin increasing public information
and awareness in the Prut River basin, promote and motivate public
participation in real activities related to cleaning up and minimization
of point and non-point pollution, including support to democratic
process related to public participation to decision making process
in problems affecting water quality in the Danube Basin. The project
will involve a wide media information campaign and a training session
for local authorities and schools representatives from the Prut
basin, promoting the environmental policy and involving the public
in developing schemes of local environmental action plans.
