Training for NGOs: the REC's Capacity Building Programme

Through our capacity-building programme we continue to offer opportunities for environmental activists to broaden environmental expertise and accelerate progress in the region. Our main goals are to increase the individual capacity of present and future environmental leaders and to support the development of institutions and programmes for environmental capacity building in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Course for Sustainability: Strategies, Methodologies, Policies and Actions for CEE
The REC and its partners are offering government officials a specialised course on sustainable development and policy making. Find out more on the sessions and applications at the course website.

Training for Young Environmental Leaders
This programme exists in order to improve the capacity and skills of young CEE environmentalists and their NGOs to deal with organisational and management problems. In 1999, the REC organised three four-week training workshops for 18 students. This training continues to be one of the most popular REC initiatives.

Internship programme
Being one of the REC's oldest programmes, internships assist young environmental professionals from within and outside the CEE region by developing their careers and improving cooperation between the REC and other organisations. This year, 12 interns from Europe and North America successfully participated in all areas of REC activities.
