| Project Summary: |
This project's goal is to increase public participation in the management planning for the Sava River Basin, as well as to push national water policies towards Water Framework Directive implementation. NGOs from each of the four Sava countries - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, and Slovenia - are taking action together to ensure that NGOs, and the people and issues they represent, take part in the development of a ‘Sava River Basin Management Plan’. The plan is now being developed by the governments of each of the four countries under the coordination of the newly created Sava River Basin Commission. The countries agreed to make the plan to fulfil EU laws requiring European countries to improve water quality by 2015. |

| Project Summary: |
The overall goal of this project is the reduction of water pollution caused by agriculture in the Lower Danube basin. The project is based on two model farms, one in Pleven County, Bulgaria and the second in Braila County, Romania. Awarness is being raised among farmers in Bulgaria, Romania, and elsewhere in the Danube Basin of the connection between their agricultural activities and water pollution. They are also learning more about best agricultural practices to reduce negative impacts on water resources. Project results will be used to promote changes to national policies, to make sure that agricultural and water protection policies are linked, and that EU legilation, including the Water Framework Directive and Common Agricultural Policy are applied properly.
