The Balkan Information Service was established to serve all
environmental stakeholders (governments, non-governmental organisations, media and academia)
and the
general public interested in obtaining information about the Regional
Environmental Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP)
and its implementation process.
The service offers in-depth data on all projects undertaken in the framework of the REReP programme and serves as a gateway to environmental information from the Balkans. The service operates until the end of 2002. Contingent on demand and funding, it could continue until the end of the five-year REReP programme. If you wish to share your experiences in implementing
REReP projects and their results, are hosting related upcoming events, are
interested in financing a REReP project or wish to make an announcement,
please contact us. The mission of the Balkan Information Service project is to contribute to the transparency, efficiency and success of the REReP by acting as a clearing house mechanism during the REReP implementation process and by re-enforcing networking and cooperation among the REReP actors involved in environmental management in the Stability Pact countries. The Balkan Information Service's objectives are to:
Who can benefit from this service? The project serves all major stakeholders in SEE,
including national and local governments, NGOs, media and academia from the
Stability Pact countries. These countries include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Romania and Serbia and Montenegro. Countries,
institutions and organisations outside this area, including those within
Central and Eastern Europe, the EU and the rest of the world are welcome to
exploit this service. See the map of beneficiary countries
in South Eastern Europe. About the Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP) The Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme (REReP) is the basis for environmental policy in South Eastern Europe. Initiated by the SEE countries themselves (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYR, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia and Montenegro), REReP is the main environmental component of the Stability Pact, Working Table II. |
