seminar
Szentendre, Hungary.

The first seminar is planned to take place in the
REC Conference Centre in Szentendre Hungary. As Hungary is centrally
located, most participants will have to travel only small distances,
which is an advantage in terms of travel time and finances. In addition,
the REC has full conference facilities that can easily accommodate
the 60 or more people required. The first session’s programme
will be called Global Environmental Situation and Strategies for Sustainable
Development.
The session will include:
a) General information concerning scientific knowledge of the environment;
b) General information about the environmental situation in Central
and Eastern Europe;
c) The European Union Strategy for Sustainable Development;
d) The Italian strategy fro sustainable development;
e) The programmes for sustainable development in Central and Eastern
Europe;
f) The action plan and the programme of partnership initiatives
developed at the Johannesburg Summit;
g) Conventions, protocols and international agreements for environmental
protections;
h) International trade and sustainable development;
i) The role and programmes of the World Bank (WB), Global Environmental
Facility (GEF), Montreal Protocol Multi-lateral Fund (MPF), Funds
for climate protection and regional development banks.
