Outline
Recognising the need to decrease the environmental impacts of agriculture and to implement principles of sustainability within the sector of sustainable agriculture in Poland, as well as the key role of agricultural extension services in aiding the practical implementation of such principles, the proposed project sets the overall goal of strengthening the capacity of agricultural extension services in order to increase the efficiency of services they provide to farmers and agricultural enterprises.
The project focuses primarily on agricultural areas of Poland, where traditionally agriculture plays an important role, addressing not only extension services, but also individual farmers indirectly, who are the end-users of the services agricultural agencies deliver, and also the actual implementers of sustainable agriculture.
To this end, the project’s main objectives are:
-
to build the capacity of extension services on the main principles of sustainable agriculture and establish a strong working relationship between project partners and the beneficiaries;
- to strengthen the role of agricultural extension services in promoting sustainable agriculture through developing their services for farmers and agricultural enterprises;
- to strengthen the cooperation between agricultural extension services and their beneficiaries — farmers and producers; and
- to develop and implement joint training programmes for farmers on reaching funding sources supporting the application of sustainable farming methods.
