The United States-Central and Eastern European Environment
Foundation (UCEF), a registered non-profit, 501 (c)
(3) organization, works to improve the state of the environment in Central
and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Newly Independent States (NIS) by
- providing support to environmental organizations
based in CEE and NIS,
- educating the American public on the state of
the environment in CEE and NIS, and
- promoting exchanges between students and
professionals in America and CEE and NIS.
How to make
a donation
UCEF's 501(c)(3) status allows the foundation to
receive charitable donations in the US from foundations, corporations, and
individuals to support partner organizations in CEE and NIS - donations that
would not be tax-deductible otherwise.
A few of the projects we
support...
- Wildlife at Work in Central and Eastern Europe:
This project is helping to build wildlife habitat on corporate lands in
CEE. UCEF helps facilitate the partnership between The Regional
Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) and the
Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) to adapt this successful US programme to
CEE needs.
- Endangered Romanian Water Lily Rescue Project:
Through a private grant, UCEF is helping save the last remaining habitat
of an endangered water lily in Oradea, Romania.
- Interpreting Our Natural Legacy: UCEF is raising funds
for a project that will bring US expert volunteers to help
improve the state of parks and protected areas in South East Europe.
- Knowledge Is Power: UCEF is helping build up an environmental
library in Kosovo, and is seeking assistance for a Green Phone,
Web-site, and an informational newsletter in Albanian and Serbian
languages.
