The Country Office Directors/Local
Representatives manage REC Country Offices in the REC's beneficiary
countries. Within the REC's organisational structure, a Country Office Director/Local
Representative is on the same level as a Department Head (category I).
Country Office Directors/Local Representatives are
responsible for:
- keeping contact with persons, organisations and
institutions active in the environmental field and informing them about
REC activities. In establishing government contacts, the Country Office
Directors/Local Representatives do not need prior authorisation of the
Head Office, however they are expected to coordinate with the Head Office
in accordance with the REC's Government Relations Policy;
- managing office and local staff, thus ensuring that REC policies are implemented within their office/country
and that REC quality standards are fulfilled;
- contributing to the achievement of the sustainable
financial target of their office through fundraising activities;
- hiring and supervising local staff in
their country office. Duties include selection of candidates,
setting performance criteria and performance evaluation, and dealing with
administrative issues (e.g. preparation of contracts, vacation requests,
attendance, sick leave, etc.); and
- endorsing new
projects/programmes that are to be implemented in their particular
country.
