Major
Achievements:
Despite the difficult political situation in Kosovo, which is under United Nations interim administration, the REC Field Office in Kosovo has managed to quickly reach Albanian, Serbian and international environmental communities and become the main environmental focal point.
The office has established close cooperation with the international donor community (Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency - SIDA, European Agency for Reconstruction, British Liaison Office). Field Office Kosovo offers such services as strategic environmental assessments to these donors, by implementing their programmes (i.e. technical support, capacity building, awareness-raising or sustainable development) and by providing information, coordination and contacts on South East Europe initiatives the REC undertakes, including the Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP).
As one of few international organisations in Kosovo, the office has approached by, and offers services to, both the Albanian and the Serbian environmental NGO community. Its services include organising a five-day Environmental Fellowship Programme, training in organisational development and small grants, and providing information services. Information services include a REC Bulletin in Albanian, English and Serbian, a trilingual Website and an environmental library
.
